Quick-start guide: Your first dub

This guide walks you through your first localized video in Dubly.AI — from sign-in to download — in under 10 minutes.

Log in at app.dubly.ai. If you don't have an account yet, sign up — your first minute is free as part of the free trial.

2. Start a new dub

From the Dashboard, click + Create Dub in the top right corner. The Create Dub modal opens.

If you want to organize related dubs into folders, create a Project first from the Dubs page and start your dub from inside the project.

3. Add your source video

The modal opens on the source step with two tabs:

YouTube Link — paste a standard YouTube URL. YT-Shorts and youtu.be short links are not supported — convert them to the standard format first.
Upload Videofile — drag and drop, or click to browse. MP4 or MOV, up to 5 GB.

Click Continue when the video is ready.

4. Configure the dub

The next step has three tabs: Details, Translation Styles, and Advanced.

Details tab

Dub name — appears in your dub overview later.
Source language — pick the language spoken in the video. We support 99 source languages. Auto-detect usually works, but setting it manually is more reliable for short or bilingual videos.
Target languages — pick one or more languages you want to dub into. Many languages also offer dialects (for example: Spanish (Latin America) vs. Spanish (Spain), English (US) vs. English (UK)).
Voice cloning style — choose one of:
- Original (Recommended) — clones the speakers' voices, keeps the natural feel.
- Studio-Like — cleaner and more polished, less authentic.
- Replace Voice — swaps the speaker for a voice from our library. After processing starts you'll be able to assign a library voice per speaker.
Number of speakers — 1, 2, or Autodetect (3 or more). Picking the correct number gives better diarization than autodetect when you know it.
Custom Voice (if enabled on your plan) — assign one specific voice to all speakers across all target languages.

Translation Styles tab

For each target language, optionally pick a Translation Style — a reusable bundle of don't-translate words, custom translations, pronunciations, tone, formality, and writing style. You can also create a new style directly from this tab. See Translation Styles for setup details.

Advanced tab

Watermark — upload a JPEG or PNG (max 5 MB), pick a corner, and set the duration (permanent or 5/10/20/30/60/120 seconds).
Keep original voice in background (only with Replace Voice) — mix the original speaker's voice quietly under the new voice, with an adjustable volume slider.

5. Confirm and start

At the bottom of the modal:

Tick the consent checkbox confirming you have the rights to translate the video and clone the voices.
Check the cost — you'll see how many minutes the dub will use and how many you have left.
Click Create Dub to start processing.

You'll be redirected to your dubs list. Processing usually takes a few minutes — you can leave the page and come back later.

6. Review and edit

Once the dub is finished, open it from your My Dubs list. You'll see a video preview and tabs for Edit Translation, Lip Sync, and Download.

Use the Advanced Editor in the Edit Translation tab to:

Fix transcription mistakes by editing the source text — the translation regenerates automatically.
Rewrite specific lines by editing the target text directly — the voice is re-synthesized on your exact wording.
Reassign speakers if the diarizer got one wrong.

After your edits, click Update to render the updated dub.

7. Add Lip-Sync (optional)

For videos with an on-camera speaker, switch to the Lip Sync tab and request lip sync. This re-aligns the mouth movements to the dubbed audio. Lip sync uses additional minutes — check the cost shown before you confirm.

8. Download

Open the Download tab to grab:

The dubbed video (MP4)
The dubbed audio (MP3) — full mix, voice only, or background only
An SRT subtitle file
The lip-synced video (if you've requested lip sync)

That's it — your first localized video is ready to ship.
