The Reviewer role
The Reviewer role lets you hand a finished translation to someone — a native speaker, a client, a colleague — to check and edit it directly in the app, one language at a time, without giving them access to the rest of your workspace.
How a review works, end to end
Invite the person as a Reviewer. An Owner or Admin invites them from the Members page with the Reviewer role (see Invite team members and manage their roles).
Assign them to a language. Open the dub, go to the Review tab, and Assign a reviewer to the language version you want checked — optionally adding instructions ("What should the reviewer pay attention to?"). Any collaborator — Owner, Admin, or Member — can do this.
The reviewer edits the translation. The video shows up in their Your reviews queue. They open it, edit the translation, and click Complete review when they're done.
You're notified and see the result. The language shows "Done (N edits)". While a review is in progress, you can't edit that language yourself — your editor is locked until the reviewer finishes.
What a Reviewer can do
See and work on only the language versions assigned to them, from a Your reviews queue — nothing else in your workspace.
Edit the translation of an assigned language, following any instructions you left (shown to them in an Instructions card).
Mark the review done with Complete review — which notifies you and records how many segments they changed.
What a Reviewer can't do
See any dub or language they haven't been assigned. Once a review is done, that dub leaves their queue (unless they still have another language in review on the same dub).
Edit the source text — for a Reviewer the original text is read-only; they only change the translation.
Create dubs, share, delete, rate, manage the team, or see billing. Their sidebar is just Home, My Dubs, Settings, and the Help Center.
Who can invite vs. who can assign
These are two separate steps:
Step | Where | Who |
Invite someone as a Reviewer | Members page | Owner, Admin |
Assign / unassign / reassign a reviewer to a language | Review tab on a dub | Any collaborator — Owner, Admin, or Member |
Complete a review | The dub | Only the assigned reviewer |
No reviewer to pick when assigning? Invite them first — the assign dialog links you to Members. External reviewers must be invited there with the Reviewer role before they can be assigned.
Reassigning and removing
Reassign — assigning a reviewer to a language that's already done starts a fresh review and notifies the new reviewer.
Unassign — discards the current review and removes that reviewer's access to the language.
A Reviewer who still has a review in progress can't be removed or demoted — reassign or complete their open reviews first.
